 Reflection:

On my last post I received more comments than on my first which I enjoyed. It gave me peace of mind that more than one person was watching my video. Both of the comments said that they enjoyed the statistic I had started my elevator pitch with, so I was sure to keep that the same and then edited my pitch to  have a transition based on the facts I gave. In passing, a friend watched my video and mentioned that it would be beneficial to add why switching to bamboo straws would help businesses, so I put that aspect in as well. I did not receive any harsh feedback, but did reshoot 3-4 times in order to have good tone, timing, and eye contact.

While I didn’t make any noticeable changes I did change my background to make it more of an outdoor atmosphere than an office setting. This is because I think that a more relaxed and interesting background could lead viewers to be more interested in my video.

  1. Hey Jordan,

I've watched all three of your elevator pitches now and I definitely think you've made steady progress leading up to this one. Your words were more condensed and straight to the point, which is also evident in the shorter video time of 59 seconds which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing. Furthermore, I also like the new setting and I can tell that your tone and words are very precise and assertive which I find to be perfect for this type of pitch. Overall great job introducing your opportunity, you've definitely sold me!

26A ·         This semester I did not necessarily fail a class or an exam but a goal I had set for myself. I had promised myself that I would not fall behind in my online classes and be scrambling for exams like I did last semester. By coming to ENT in person and watching my elective livestreamed I was mostly on top of it until my social schedule and sorority friends limited me from watching the 5 hours of economics lectures that were assigned every week. By the time spring break had finished I had over 30 hours of lectures that I needed to catch up on in 1 week for the upcoming exam. I feel like I had failed myself and fallen back into bad habits that led to my unsatisfactory grade last semester. ·         I learned that while a busy social schedule is fun and good for your happiness, choosing to put social or sorority life above your goals and the time required for your classes is never the correct ch...

14A- Halfway Reflection

14A- 1.       Tenacity is a competency:   In order to keep up with this course I have created an pre-deadline for myself to ensure all my assignments are completed before the due date and a high quality. Developing this habit has allowed me to manage my time more accurately and not turn in lackluster work. Because this class requires some outside of the library interaction, looking at assignments the week before they are due is now a behavior I have tried to implement this in the past few weeks when the assignments required interviews, which are not possible in the library at 2 am when you’re trying to beat a deadline. In order to be successful in ENT you must interact with other people and do so in a timely manner. 2.       Tenacity is also about attitude: When I was extremely a couple of weeks ago I put off all of my ENT homework because it is usually the last thing due for the week. By doing this however, I found myse...

29A 1.       Opportunity ·         New environmental protection movements have brought to light how environmentally damaging plastic is to our ecosystems, especially our oceans. The single use plastics are the greatest under fire because they are disposed of in great numbers and do not decompose, thus leaving trash to pollute the oceans and lands. ·         After a video emerged of a sea turtle having a straw stuck in its nostril, the push to stop the use of plastic straws was born. It began with the policy of not giving out straws unless asked, then to straw-less cups, and finally some cities have completely banned the distribution of plastic straws by restaurants and other straw serving establishments. With this came the implementation of paper straws in every restaurant, coffee shop, bar, and gas station. Paper straws were simply awful. They disintegrate in your drink and become l...
