Tenacity is a competency: In order to keep up with this course I have
created an pre-deadline for myself to ensure all my assignments are completed before
the due date and a high quality. Developing this habit has allowed me to manage
my time more accurately and not turn in lackluster work. Because this class
requires some outside of the library interaction, looking at assignments the
week before they are due is now a behavior I have tried to implement this in
the past few weeks when the assignments required interviews, which are not possible
in the library at 2 am when you’re trying to beat a deadline. In order to be successful
in ENT you must interact with other people and do so in a timely manner.
2.
Tenacity is also about attitude: When
I was extremely a couple of weeks ago I put off all of my ENT homework because
it is usually the last thing due for the week. By doing this however, I found
myself scrambling on a Thursday night. In the middle of a storm my power went
out and thus, the wifi stopped working. Using my phone as a hotspot would burn
the battery, and without a timeline of regaining power I truly wanted to throw
in the towel. However I realized that this assignment was worth 3% of my grade
so I got in my car, drove to Starbucks and worked until it was finished. This attitude
is one I feel like I always have had, but this class has brought out significantly.
By the fact that every assignment I directly reflective of your grade in the class
is what I believe pushes the tenacious attitude to the surface the most. Every
point is a percentage point.

Three Tips:
a.
Look ahead at your assignments. When you don’t
look at the directions until the night before, there is a possibility you will
not have the information you need or the time to get it. When you prepare your
timeline before the due date you will always be in the position to collect what
you need to complete the assignment.
b.
Even though the assignments are only worth a
small number of points and seem like they aren’t that big of an impact, do not
quit and skip assignments. By not completing an assignment you are giving away
critical percentages of your grade. Even when your friends are going out on Thursday
night and you think that the 3 points from this week wont affect you that badly,
DO THE ASSIGNMENT. This tenacious attitude will bring you success in ENT.
c.
Comment on different peoples’ posts every
week. By doing this you will get to see more than one approach to every
assignment and never feel like you are being repetitive in your replies. This
can also positively impact your work if you feel like it is not up to par with
others in your assigned group.

Hey Jordan,
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with your advice. Every single assignment is worth the same amount so the best thing you can do for yourself is to just do every one. That way, toward the end of the class during finals time, you will be safer to miss a certain assignment. Also, the assignment grader are much more of a safe thing than the cupcakes so I think it is important to get the points where you can. I wrote about how attending lecture can be very important. What do you think is the best way to consume this course's lecture?
